Benefits of Otoplasty at Contour Plastic Surgery
Dr. Paresi offers otoplasty to improve the appearance of the ears while enhancing overall facial harmony. Benefits include:
- Improved facial balance by reducing the prominence of the ears
- A more natural ear shape that blends seamlessly with your features
- Greater confidence in social situations, photos, and everyday interactions
- The freedom to wear hairstyles that expose the ears without self-consciousness
- Lasting results that do not require ongoing treatments
Your Otoplasty Procedure, Customized for You
During your consultation, Dr. Paresi carefully evaluates your ears, facial proportions, and goals to determine the most effective surgical approach. Otoplasty can address a range of concerns, including:
- Protruding Ears: Repositions and reshapes cartilage so the ears rest closer to the head.
- Ear Size Imbalance: Reduces excess cartilage for a more proportionate appearance.
- Cartilage Irregularities: Refines ear folds and contours for a smoother, more natural shape.
Otoplasty can be performed under local or general anesthesia. For pediatric patients under 12 years of age, we usually recommend general anesthesia. For patients older than 12 years of age, it is the patient’s preference which determines which type of anesthesia is used. Local anesthesia involves a series of injections of local anesthetic around the ear to numb the area. General anesthesia involves the patient being totally asleep for the entire procedure. The procedure typically takes about 2-3 hours to complete. Recovery involves use of a headband and protective dressings to protect the ears while they heal, and is around six weeks for full recovery.
